
Mr. Eui-suk Kim, a young cook at the bistro kitchen of Novotel Ambassador Gangnam was awarded bronze medal in the category of Ethnic Asian Meal at FHA 2010 Culinary Challenge. The FHA was held on April 20 ~ 23 in Singapore.
The FHA, celebrating 17th event in 2010, set up in 1978 and is recognized one of the world’s 5 largest food fairs.
The FHA Culinary Challenge is a certified cooking competition by WACS (World Association of Chefs' Societies) with judges selected after strict review.
Kim, competing as an individual, competed in the category of individual ‘Ethnic Asian Meal’ and grabbed the honor of bronze medal. The Ethnic Asian Meal is a competition displaying fusion style of authentic cuisines of each country. Kim featured 4 fusion Korean cuisines of Tteok Galbi (chopped rib meat ball), Dong Chi Mi (watery radish kimchi),
Tangpyeongchae (seasoned vegetables and jelly) , and Ganjang gejang (crab preserved in soy sauce). The competition in Ethnic Asian Meal had over 80 competitors from Germany, Swiss, Italy, Malaysia, Singapore, Korea and
Hong Kong.
“I would like to compete and learn in international cooking competitions every year’ said Kim. Kim had previously
won various culinary awards including World Culinary Competition where he won silver in 2005, bronze in 2006 and
gold in 2007. He also won bronze in Appetizer competition at 2009 Hong Kong International Cooking Competition.
Full of pride in his effort for culinary arts, Kim expressed his aim with confidence that he focused on ‘globalization of Korean Cuisine’ for 2010 FHA and will further work on his career to contribute to his commitment to the globalized
Korean cuisines.
