The annual Earth Day has come back on April 22. The Earth Day began its history in 1970 along with massive
campaigns and demonstrations by American environmentalists. Today, the Earth Day is celebrated regardless
of regions or countries and representing human activities to conserve nature.
The Accor ? Ambassador Hotels have actively supported the Earth Day as part of its commitment to sustainable
development of the community and environment. This year, the hotels delivered their volunteer service at a local
community service center, where they gave free meals to the homeless and single-living seniors.
In the morning of April 23, the 51 staff and executives of 5 Accor-Ambassador hotels in Seoul (Grand Ambassador
Seoul, Novotel Ambassador Gangnam, Novotel Ambassador Doksan, Ibis Ambassador Seoul and Ibis Ambassador
Myeong-dong) were together at The Dail Community for Baffor (delivery of meal) service and prepared instantly
cooked dishes of Galbi Tang, Japchae, Kimchi and fruits.
The food delivery started at 11 a.m. and executives of the hotels (Mr. H. K Park, the president at Grand Ambassador
Seoul, Mr. K. W. Kim, the president at Novotel Ambassador Gangnam, Mr. S. Y. Liu, the president at Novotel
Ambassador Doksan, Mr. S. J. Choi, the General Manager at Ibis Ambassador Seoul, and Mr. Richard Chung,
the General Manager at Ibis Ambassador Myeong-dong) led other participants for the service. Over 540 people
were given the free meals during the 2 hours of service.
“I felt great when we served them with soups and rice that we prepared by ourselves. It might not be a big help
for them but I feel proud to add my effort into the service. I will personally continue this type of service to help our
community” said Joon-hyung Kim, a staff at Administration Dept of Novotel Ambassador Gangnam.
The 5 Accor-Ambassador hotels have been actively engaged in their environmental management for 10 years
through ‘Accor Earth Guest Program’ and every April 22, the Earth Day, they selected the theme of ‘water’, ‘tree’
and etc. and deliver volunteer services such as gardening, planting, river cleaning and so on. This year, the theme
was ‘human-being’ and they served with Baffor charity campaign.
